Finding Patients - we find more patients than anybody else.
1st Retinal Screen works closely with each Practice to establish a comprehensive Patient Register of those with or At Risk of diabetes, in order to recruit patients into the Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) screening programme. 1st Retinal Screen forms a web-based chronic disease register of these patients, who we regard as candidates for inclusion in the DR screening programme. The register is updated daily by automated General Practice updates and by links to hospital based systems including Ophthalmology and Diabetologist. This approach on average finds 20-30% more Patients with Diabetes and ensures they are looked after through the programme. For more information on Diabetics at risk click here.

Our definition for those At Risk includes those who are on Diabetic related drugs and have significant laboratory data indicating that they may be Diabetic but are currently without a diagnosis of diabetes.
